(Salt Lake City, UT) – The cost of a Utah marriage license could go up under a bill being considered by state lawmakers. A state Senate committee approved a bill yesterday that would raise license fees by 20-dollars, with one catch. The 20-dollars would be refunded to applicants if they take a marriage counseling course before getting married. The sponsor of the bill says his intent is to get couples to think about the responsibilities of marriage before tying the knot.Â
