UINTA-WASATCH-CACHE NATIONAL FOREST, Utah-Wednesday morning, the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest gave their latest update concerning road work in the Strawberry Valley, stretching from Daniels Summit to milepost 46 on U.S. Highway 40.
As of July 15, crews will being applying a gravel (chip) seal to the roadway to enhance traction.
This is to extend the life of the pavement between Daniels Summit and Strawberry Marina.
If in the area, drivers are asked to be aware of moving equipment and workers near travel lanes.
Motorists can expect construction activities between 9:00 am and 8:00 pm. Additional speed reduction on newly-laid seal material should be expected as well as possible lane shifts and 15-minute delays.
The speed limit has been reduced to 55 miles per hour in this area. Drivers are asked to slow down in work areas and to avoid driving while drowsy or impaired.
They are also asked to put away distracting devices and to always buckle up. Zero fatalities is everyone’s responsibility.
Heavy and wide loads exceeding 12 feet are excluded on this stretch of U.S. 40 until construction is completed. It is anticipated that conclusion will occur in Fall 2020.
Drivers are to plan ahead for construction delays, allowing themselves extra time to get to their destination.
They are also asked to use alternate routes whenever possible. Furthermore, they are asked to drive safely and be aware of construction activities, speed limit reductions and workers near driving lanes.
