(Salt Lake City, UT) — Condos and townhomes have become more common across the state in the past decade. According to a 2022 database by Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, building permits for the housing types were seen four times as much than in 2013. A representative of the Utah Home Builders Association told the Salt Lake Tribune, the reason for the spike in building is “out of desperation” to get people to buy homes. It is widely agreed upon around the industry that this is because for both builders and buyers it is cheaper to build and sell.
