Colorado Murder Suspect Caught After High-Speed Garfield County Chase

GARFIELD COUNTY, Utah (AP)-Per a report from KTVX-TV, Channel 4 in Salt Lake City, a suspect from Colorado wanted for murder was arrested in Garfield County early Friday morning.

Deputies arrested 27-year-old David Carlos Craine and a passenger, Lindsy Michelle Petschauer, after they say they took officers on a speed chase that exceeded 100 miles an hour.

Garfield County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Cheryl Church said a Piute County deputy attempted to stop a car around 10:00 am MST Friday morning for traveling at 104 miles an hour.

The driver would not stop and the high speed chase ensued in Garfield County.

Officers from the Division of Wildlife Resources, the Utah Highway Patrol and the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office successfully placed spike strips on the road to deflate all four of the vehicle’s tires.

Church stated the vehicle continued on its rims until Craine eventually lost control near Panguitch.

Both Craine and Petschauer attempted to run on foot before being apprehended and each of them have been booked into the Garfield County Jail in Panguitch.

Craine has been wanted out of Arapahoe County (Colo.) since a fatal shooting at an apartment complex December 29 where authorities discovered a 36-year-old man lying in the parking lot with a single gunshot wound. The victim died from his injuries at the hospital and a warrant was issued for Craine.
