Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Names New BYU-Hawaii President

SALT LAKE CITY-Tuesday, the Board of Trustees at BYU-Hawaii University appointed John “Keoni” Kauwe as the 11th president in school history.

Kauwe and his wife, Monica, will succeed John S. Tanner and his wife, Susan, who have served in this capacity since 2015.

This announcement was made by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Quorum of Twelve Apostles during the weekly BYU-Hawaii devotional.

This address was broadcast from the Church Office Building auditorium on Temple Square at Salt Lake City.

Kauwe is presently the dean of graduate studies at Brigham Young University and is an internationally-recognized researcher specializing in Alzheimer’s disease genetics.

Kauwe expressed he is ready to building on the diverse strengths of this institution to ensue in his legacy of learning.
