Child Marriage Bill Headed To Governor’s Desk

(Salt Lake City, UT) — A bill that strengthens restrictions on child marriages in Utah is awaiting the governor’s signature. The measure, which passed the state House and Senate, bans 16-or-17-year-olds from marrying someone if the age gap is greater than four-years. Currently that gap stands at seven years. The proposed law also requires a 72-hour waiting period.
