Bill Could Bring Second Pro Sports Stadium to Salt Lake City’s West Side

(Salt Lake City, UT) – A new bill could allow Salt Lake City’s west side to host two professional stadiums instead of just one for a potential Major League Baseball team. Introduced by Senator Scott Sandall, SB-336 reduces the minimum stadium capacity from 30-thousand to 18-thousand and removes restrictions limiting stadium use to MLB. It also advances a 1-point-5-percent rental car tax collection date to October 2025, which will help fund infrastructure like parking and lighting. The bill, which passed a Senate committee 2-1, could open the door for teams like Real Salt Lake or the Utah Royals to relocate.
