Big Hollow Fire Commences Friday Night Near Heber City

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah-As of Friday at 7:00 pm, the Big Hollow Fire started two miles south of Daniel.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time. Because of its remote location, the blaze was under little containment as it started.

Fire crews have established a solid anchor point and an old, dirt road was opened as a dozer could gain access to the southern edge of the blaze.

Saturday, it is anticipated the dozer, and two hand crews assigned to the fire, will be supported by fire engines to construct lines on the northern, western and eastern portions of the fire.

No infrastructure is being threatened at this time and no evacuations have occurred.

The access point to the fire, Big Hollow Road, will be closed Saturday so fire equipment can work safely in the area.

Downdrafts from potential thunderstorms in the area this weekend (there is a 20 percent chance of rain showers in the Heber Valley area Saturday per the Weather Channel) are among the concerns as well as steep terrain and limited general access.
