CENTERVILLE, Utah-A man killed Wednesday after running into a stopped semi-truck on southbound Interstate 15 in Centerville was identified Friday.
The incident occurred at 11:30 am Wednesday per a news release from the Utah Department of Public Safety.
A passenger vehicle was traveling in the center lane when the driver of that vehicle realized the need to exit onto Parrish Lane.
This vehicle crossed over quickly, per a report from the department.
A semi-truck witnessing the accident stopped in the lane to protect the disabled vehicle.
A 1994 Nissan Sentra traveling in the right lane, driven by the victim, 74-year-old Kenneth E. Johnston of Woods Cross, caromed into the semi-truck, causing his death.
The crash caused a delay of several hours as officials cleared the scene and investigated the incident.
UDOT cameras confirm the highway fully reopened at 4:00 pm Wednesday.
