LAKE POWELL-Thursday, a 26-year-old man died Thursday after falling off of a cliff overlooking Lake Powell per comments from Kane County officials Friday.
Ian Brisbin and a friend, each of whom were from neighboring Page, Ariz., camped at Altstrom Point Wednesday night, officials said in a news release.
The friend went to bed at midnight but Brisbin stayed out longer.
Thursday morning, Brisbin hadn’t returned to the campsite and his friend began searching for him, per the release.
The friend then looked over the cliff and saw Ian’s body 70 feet below and called authorities just after 9:30 am.
When authorities arrived, Brisbin was pronounced dead and a search and rescue team discovered his body.
The incident is still under investigation, officials reported, and Brisbin’s body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office.
Authorities said the fall appears to have been an accident at this time.
