2 Parole Fugitives Lead Authorities on West Valley City Chase

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah-Three people, including two wanted fugitives on parole, were arrested early Friday morning following a chase involving police officers representing several jurisdictions.

West Valley City police have been investigating a series of business burglaries over the course of the past few months.

They located a suspect’s vehicle near 3100 South and 5600 West around 2:00 am Friday morning, per a statement from West Valley City police spokeswoman Roxanne Vainuku.

Vainuku stated officials prepared to stop the vehicle, deploying spikes in front of it.

However, the vehicle continued to drive and police successfully spiked all four tires.

The driver made it onto S.R. 201 and two Utah Highway Patrol troopers attempted to disable the vehicle by conducting a PIT maneuver, Vainuku said.

The chase ended at Bangerter Highway after a Unified police officer conducted another PIT maneuver.

The fleeing driver rammed another UPD vehicle head-on.

Police confirmed 51-year-old Kenneth Dunn, a parole fugitive, was driving the car and was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer and evading. His parole warrants added to the charges against him.

Authorities also arrested 51-year-old Juan Rocha and 39-year-old Linda Tassone. Tassone is another parole fugitive. No injuries were reported.
