A 16-year-old boy suffered minor injuries in a shooting in the parking lot of Midvale Middle School early today. Officers received two calls of shots fired near 7852 S. Pioneer Street about 12:40 a.m. About 30 minutes later, Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray said dispatchers received another call from a witness reporting that a male was seen carrying another male over his shoulder and running from the area. Officers who responded to the school found a blood trail and shell casings in the parking lot, but the victim and suspects were gone. A 16-year-old boy later showed up at St. Mark’s Hospital with a gunshot wound to his ankle. The boy has been uncooperative with detectives. Although no threat was made directly to the school and the victim is not believed to be a student at the school, extra officers were called to patrol the school Thursday as a precaution.
