NEW ORLEANS (AP)-Per a report from Ryan Miller of the St. George (Color Country) Spectrum, Southern Utah tight end Mike Sharp has received a tryout opportunity with the New Orleans Saints.
Sharp, who is my cousin, served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Mississippi Jackson Mission so he has previous experiences in the area.
Sharp was a key component of the Southern Utah offense in 2016, leading the Thunderbirds in all statistical categories in receiving, 75 grabs for 898 yards and 12 touchdowns.
While no Thunderbirds were drafted after a 6-5 season, four of them, including Sharp, have received invitations to NFL training camps.
These include tight end Steven Wroblewski who has signed with the Arizona Cardinals, cornerback Josh Thornton who signed with the Detroit Lions and tailback Raysean Pringle, who has signed with the Green Bay Packers.
