Track Roundup: BYU Invitational Concludes

PROVO, Utah (AP)-Saturday, as the BYU Invitational wrapped up, numerous athletes throughout the Mid Utah Radio Sports Network coverage area excelled in their final tuneup before region meets.

North Summit’s girls won the 1-A/2-A division title with 111 points, easily besting second-place Mountain View (Wyo.) with 53.5 points. For the boys, Sugar-Salem (Idaho) easily took the title with 111.5 points with Delta placing second at 69 points.

For the girls, North Summit’s Sadie Sargent took the title in the 1600-meter run and in the 800, Mountain View’s Hannah Behunin placed first.

North Summit’s girls also swept the 4 x 100, 4 x 400 and medley relays while Kate Sorensen of Gunnision swept the 100 and 300-meter hurdle titles.

Jaslyn Gardner of Enterprise took the 100 and 200-meter dash crowns while Emily Barnes of Milford won the 400-meter dash.

For the boys, DJ Matthews of Summit Academy won the 1600-meter run while Cameron Garner of Sugar-Salem took the boys’ 800-meter run title.

Millard’s boys won the medley title while Sugar-Salem took the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 titles.

Taylor MacDonald of Beaver swept the 110 and 300-meter hurdle titles.

Tristen Woolstenhulme of North Summit won the boys’ 400-meter dash title with Dallin Draper of Delta sweeping the boys’ 100 and 200-meter dash events.
