The courtroom was packed with supporters of a woman who died as the Mt. Pleasant man accused of her murder was in Sixth District Court on Wednesday for a waiver of his preliminary hearing. Anthony Jeffery Christensen appeared before Judge Marvin Bagley as his attorney asked for a continuation of the hearing. He explained that he and the prosecution were awaiting evidence from the state medical examiner, specifically toxicology that had been run on Christensen’s fiancée, Kammy Edmunds, following her death. Christensen alleges the couple had been drinking heavily the evening of March 30 when he went to bed and believes Edmunds left the home with another woman, crashed her car and made her way back home. She was discovered by Christensen bruised and deceased in the home Friday afternoon. However, the state medical examiner’s office reported to police that Edmunds’ injuries were not consistent with a car crash, and she died from “multiple blunt force trauma†to her head.
Both attorneys are hoping the report will be back in six to eight weeks, and Christensen is scheduled for a continuation of waiver hearing on July 5.
