Murray Man Found Dead At Strawberry Reservoir

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah-Monday, a man from Murray was pronounced dead after drowning at Strawberry Reservoir.

The Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office reports the man’s body was found 50 feet beneath the water.

Sheriff’s Office officials confirmed they received a call Monday at 12:00 pm from a woman who reported  her husband spent the night on his boat.

However, she stated, he did not return to the Aspen Grove dock at 9:00 am Monday morning. This was the time he was slated to return, she confirmed.

Officials reported the man’s boat was later found at Soldier Creek, some 100 yards away from the shore.

It was anchored at that place with no occupants on board.

This caused Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office deputies and representatives of Wasatch County Search and Rescue, Utah State Parks, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter to respond to the scene.

Officials reported rescue crews eventually located the man’s body 50 feet below the water, underneath the boat.

His name has not yet been released but reports confirm he was 44 years old at the time of his passing.

An autopsy shall be conducted by the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the official cause of death.
