LOS ANGELES (AP) — Alex Wood improved to 10-0 and the Los Angeles Dodgers expanded their lead in the NL West to 4 ½ games by shutting out the second-place Arizona Diamondbacks, 1-0. Wood also lowered his ERA to 1.67 as he held the DBacks to three hits and two walks while striking out 10 over seven innings. Yasmani Grandal (yahs-MAH’-nee grahn-DAHL’) doubled home the game’s only run in the second inning, one of just four hits by the Dodgers.
UNDATED (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers earned a 4-0 shutout against Baltimore to stay 3 ½ games ahead of the second-place Chicago Cubs in the NL Central. Brewers outfielder Keon Broxton belted a two-run homer to support Matt Garza, who combined with three relievers on an eight-hitter. The cubs kept pace as Jon Jay belted a sixth-inning homer and Ian Happ followed with a tiebreaking, two-run single in the seventh to lead a 7-3 decision over Tampa Bay.

Cory Spangenberg (SPAN’-jehn-burg) hit a two-run homer and Carlos Asuaje (ah-SWAH’-hay) drove in a pair to lead the Padres’ offense in a 6-2 win over the Indians. Salvador Perez smacked a tiebreaking, two-run homer in the 10th inning before the Royals completed a 9-6 win over the Mariners.
UNDATED (AP) — The Houston Astros were 10-4 winners over Atlanta as Josh Reddick and Marwin Gonzalez drove in three runs apiece. The Astros blew a 4-0 lead before George Springer singled home the lead run in the seventh inning of their 12th win in 15 games. The outcome keeps the Astros 16 games ahead in the AL West and drops the Braves 9 ½ games behind the NL East-leading Washington Nationals, who were rained out.
