The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Breaks Ground for Antofagasta Chile Temple

ANTOFAGASTA, Chile-Friday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints broke ground on a temple to be constructed at Antofagasta, Chile.

Because of covid-19 restrictions, access to the site was limited.

Presiding at the event was Elder Juan Pablo Villar of the South America South Area Presidency.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were Antofagasta Governor Nanto Espinoza and Antofagasta Interim Mayor Yamile Guzman.

The temple, which will be located at Avenida de Las Palmeras 44, will be the third Chilean temple upon its dedication.

The other temples in Chile are located at Santiago (1983; re-dedication, 2006) and Concepcion (2018).

There are 602,373 Latter-day Saints in Chile in 74 stakes and 568 congregations.
