McAllen Texas Temple Groundbreaking Occurs Saturday

MCALLEN, Texas-Saturday afternoon, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints completed groundbreaking on a new temple to be constructed at McAllen, Texas.

Area Seventy, Elder Art Rascon, presided over the ceremony.

Upon its completion, the McAllen Texas Temple will serve Latter-day Saints in stakes in McAllen, Corpus Christi and Laredo, Texas as well as Church members in the northeastern Mexican states of Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon.

The temple is to be constructed on 10.6-acre site on the northwestern corner of Second Street and Trenton Road in McAllen.

A meetinghouse is also to be constructed on the site.

Upon completion, the McAllen Texas Temple will be the fifth in Texas.
