Elder Soares Speaks At Religious Freedom Seminar

SALT LAKE CITY-Elder Ulisses Soares of The Quorum of Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints spoke at the first day of the Dallas-Fort Worth Summit For Religious Freedom Wednesday. This seminar runs through Friday.

Elder Soares cited his home country of Brazil as an example of successfully managing the difficulties of difference among believers.

Elder Soares encouraged his audience to respect sincerely held beliefs by neighbors who may disagree with us on matters of religion.

Elder Soares said words are insufficient in accomplishing this goal as they must be accompanied by “mutual altruism and selfless service.”

Elder Soares said this can be accomplished by “networks and social ties that make this possible.”
