SPRINGVILLE, Utah-Friday, Wasatch High School boys and girls cross country competed at the Region 8 cross country championships at Springville High School.
The girls’ champion was Springville, posting a score of 21. Wasatch finished second with a score of 64. Rounding out the standings were Salem Hill (3rd place, 78), Maple Mountain (4th place, 112), Park City (5th place, 140), Spanish Fork (6th place, 150), Provo (7th place, 183) and Payson (8th place, 205).
The individual girls’ Region 8 champion is Springville sophomore Sarah Galbraith (17:45.60).
The Wasps were paced by senior Abbie Randall (4th place, 18:26.20), sophomore Emma Page (8th place, 18:43.20), sophomore Allison Munck (11th place, 18:57.30), senior Danielle Krull (19:25.30, 18th place) freshman Kate Giles (23rd place, 19:47.50), sophomore Lillie Randall (24th place, 19:47.40), freshman Tesha Krull (33rd place, 20:32.90) and junior Audrey Burton (49th place, 21:30.00).
For the boys, Springville (62) won the boys’ team title. Wasatch placed 5th with a score of 140.
Additionally, Payson (63) placed second, Maple Mountain placed third (79), Park City finished fourth (111), Provo finished sixth (140), Salem Hills placed seventh (157) and Spanish Fork finished eighth (169).
The individual winner was Provo’s John Hunter (18:52.80).
Wasatch senior Andrew Sullivan (15:44.80) placed sixth while junior Jake Giles placed 31st (16:51.20).
Junior Eastin McCotter (16:51.40) placed 32nd and sophomore Trevor Hardy (16:58.00) placed 35th.
Other Wasps to compete included junior Carson Guymon (38th place, 17:04.60), junior Christian Spencer (40th place, 17:07.50), senior Corbin Broadhead (43rd place, 17:19.60) and senior Ethan Huntsman (44th place, 17:21.40).
The Wasps will host the 3-A/5-A/6-A state championship meet October 22 at Soldier Hollow.
