Wednesday stats for covid-19 in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY-Wednesday, covid-19 statistics were updated for Utah by the state department of health.

Since statistics began being kept, there have been 55,673 recorded cases of covid-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 314 and a net decrease of 12.

Since September 4, there has been a net decrease of 239, or a net decrease of 48.7 cases per day.

698,541 Utahns have been tested for covid-19. This is an increase of 3,194 Utahns in the past 24 hours.

This kept the positive test percentage at 7.96 percent for the second consecutive day. The 24-hour positive test percentage slightly increased to 9.83 percent Wednesday from Tuesday’s 9.045 percent.

For the first time since last Friday, recoveries exceeded new cases as 362 new recoveries in the past 24 hours increased the net recoveries to 47,084 per Wednesday’s report.

The recovery percentage increased to 84.57 percent Wednesday. Tuesday, this was at 84.39 percent.

The gap between all-time cases and recoveries shrank to 8,589 Wednesday. This is a decrease of 48 in the past 24 hours.

There are currently 8,162 active cases in Utah or a net decrease of 51 in the past 24 hours. This dropped the active case percentage to 14.66 percent. Tuesday, this was at 14.83 percent.

The differential between recoveries and all-time cases increased to 38,922, or a net increase of 413 in the past 24 hours.

There have been 3,263 recorded hospitalizations for covid-19 in Utah or a net increase of 21 in the past 24 hours.

The current hospitalizations increased by one in the past 24 hours to 116. This kept the percentage at 3.55 percent for the second consecutive day.

There are four new covid-19 hospitalizations in ICU in the past 24 hours, raising the total to 45. This increased the ICU percentage to 38.79 percent from Tuesday’s 35.7 percent.

59.6 percent of ICU in Utah is currently occupied.

There are three new deaths attributed to covid-19 in Utah in the past 24 hours, raising the total to 427. This increased the death rate percentage to 0.766 percent Wednesday. Tuesday, this was at 0.765 percent.

Wasatch County saw one new case of covid-19 in the past 24 hours, raising the total to 659. The hospitalizations (28) and deaths (7) attributed to covid-19 in Wasatch County remained unchanged in the past 24 hours.

The most recent death attributed to covid-19 in Wasatch County occurred August 28.
