SALT LAKE CITY-As of Week 1 of the NFL season, 27 University of Utah football alums are on various rosters throughout the league.
This consists of 20 players on active rosters, six on practice squads and one who has opted out of the 2020 season because of health concerns. This Utah alum is Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Star Lotulelei.
Both the Denver Broncos and the Washington Football Team have three former Utes.
The Broncos feature third-year receiver Tim Patrick, fourth-year tackle Garett Bolles and offensive lineman Darrin Paulo. Patrick and Bolles are on the Broncos’ active roster with Paulo on Denver’s practice roster.
The Washington Football team boasts 14-year quarterback Alex Smith, fourth-year linebacker Jared Norris and sixth-year outside linebacker Nate Orchard. Norris and Orchard are both on Washington’s practice roster. The other Utes who are on Week 1 NFL rosters are as follows:
