Monday report for covid-19 in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY-Monday, the latest statistics for covid-19 in Utah were updated by the state department of health.

Since statistics began being kept, there have been 55,033 recorded cases of covid-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 373 in the past 24 hours and a net decrease of 15 in the same span.

Since this past Friday, the net cases per day are at a net decrease of 180. This is significant as September 4 represented the second of two consecutive days exceeding 500 new cases in Utah.

691,743 Utahns have been tested for covid-19. This is an increase of 3,008 Utahns in the past 24 hours.

This increased the positive test percentage to 7.95 percent. Sunday, this was at 7.93 percent. The 24-hour positive test percentage increased to 12.4 percent. This is significantly up from Sunday’s 8.13 percent.

Recoveries continue to run behind new active cases as they increased by only 235 to 46,468 Monday. This caused the recovery percentage to slip to 84.43 percent. Sunday, this was at 84.58 percent.

The gap between all-time cases and recoveries increased to 8,565 Monday. This represents a net increase of 138 in the past 24 hours.

There are currently 8,142 active cases in Utah. This is an increase of 137 active cases in the past 24 hours. This caused the active case percentage to increase to 14.79 percent.

The differential between recovered cases and active cases increased to 38,326 Monday. This is a net increase of 98 in the past 24 hours.

There have been 3,225 recorded hospitalizations for covid-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 18 in the past 24 hours.

However, for the third consecutive day, current hospitalizations (120) and those current hospitalizations in ICU (49) remained unchanged. This caused the current hospitalization percentage to drop to 3.72 percent. Sunday, this was at 3.74 percent. The ICU percentage remained at 40.8 percent. Presently, 69.6 percent of ICU is occupied in Utah.

The death total attributed to covid-19 increased by one in the past 24 hours to 423. This dropped the death percentage to 0.769. This was at 0.772 percent Sunday.

The statistics in Wasatch County, across the board, remained unchanged in the past 24 hours. These concern cases (658), hospitalizations (28) and deaths (7).

The most recent death attributed to covid-19 in Wasatch County occurred August 28.
