Sunday covid report for Utah

SALT LAKE CITY-Sunday, covid-19 statistics were updated for Utah by the state department of health.

Since statistics began being kept, there have been 54,660 recorded cases of covid-19 in Utah.

This is an increase of 388 in the past 24 hours and a net decrease of 45 in the same span.

688,735 Utahns have been tested for covid-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 4,770 Utahns in the past 24 hours.

This kept the positive test percentage 7.93 percent for the second consecutive day. The 24-hour positive test percentage dropped to 8.13 percent Sunday. Saturday, this was at 10.69 percent.

There have been 46,233 recoveries from covid-19 in Utah per Sunday’s report. This is an increase of 337 in the past 24 hours, causing an increase in the recovery percentage to 84.58 percent. Saturday, this was at 84.56 percent.

The gap between all-time cases and recoveries increased to 8,427 Sunday. However, the increase of 51 in the past 24 hours is down from Saturday’s net increase of 84.

There are 8,005 active cases of covid-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 49 in the past 24 hours but the active case percentage dropped to 14.64 percent from Saturday’s 14.65 percent.

The differential between recoveries and active cases in Utah increased to 38,228 per Sunday’s report, or a net increase of 288 in the past 24 hours.

There have been 3,207 hospitalizations for covid-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 19 in the past 24 hours.

However, current hospitalizations remained at 120 for the second consecutive day. This dropped the current covid-19 hospitalization percentage to 3.74 percent from Saturday’s 3.76 percent. The ICU cases remained unchanged at 49 from Saturday as well, keeping the ICU percentage at 40.8 percent. Currently, 69.6 percent of ICU is occupied in hospitals across the state.

There have been 422 deaths attributed to covid-19 in Utah. This is an increase of two in the pat 24 hours, causing the current death rate to drop to 0.772 percent. Saturday, this was at 0.773 percent.

In Wasatch County, there were two new recorded cases of covid-19 in the past 24 hours, raising the total to 658 all-time cases. The hospitalizations (28) and deaths (7) remain unchanged in the past 24 hours.

The most recent death attributed to covid-19 in Wasatch County occurred August 28.
