The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Participates In 2020 Suicide Prevention Summit Series

SALT LAKE CITY-Thursday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints confirmed its participation in a four-part 2020 Suicide Prevention Summit Series hosted by Intermountain Healthcare.

These summits will occur weekly on Thursdays through September 17.

Registration is full for Thursday’s summit, which runs from 12:00-1:30 pm but you can register for subsequent summits at bit.ly/FaithInAction2020.

Thursday’s summit explores Protective Action: This entails the basics of suicide prevention within the faith domain. It will expound upon proactive and loving response to those at risk for suicide.

The following summits are at the following times and will explore these themes:

September 3: 12:00-1:00 pm. Inclusive Action: This assists participants in understanding the need for inclusion and how faith leaders can strengthen the inclusion needed for all congregants.

September 10: 12:00-1:00 pm. Healing Action: Creating a compassionate, effective approach to caring for persons bereaved by suicide loss.

September 17: 12:00-1:30 pm. 12:00-1:30 pm. Faith in Action: How to incorporate what has been learned into faithful actions to prevent suicide.

Licensed clinical social worker and advisory group member, Travis Baer, a Latter-day Saint, stated this summit provides an opportunity to learn skills which can prevent suicide and enable members of the Salt Lake City-based faith to minister more effectively.
