Upper Provo Fire Report For Saturday

UINTA-WASATCH-CACHE NATIONAL FOREST, Utah-Saturday, our friends at Utah Wildfire Info updated the latest information on the Upper Provo Fire. This blaze, which commenced July 31, is burning 22 miles east of Kamas in the Murdock Basin area. This is located in the Heber-Kamas Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.

Presently, the blaze has scorched 480 acres and it is 44 percent contained.

Currently, the Murdock Basin Road (Forest Service Road No. 137) and Broadhead Meadows Road (Forest Service Road No. 416) remain closed.

This also includes the Murdock Basin and Broadhead Meadows areas.

Mirror Lake Highway is open but drivers should be cautious of fire traffic on the road.

While this fire remains active, the most active spot is west of Pyramid Lake.

Crews are laboring to keep the fire from spotting over the lake.

The terrain in the area is rugged which affects tactics used by firefighters to combat the fire.

Hand crews are also directing helicopter bucket drops to extinguish torching trees and all other active fire spots.

Friday, a local fire prevention patrol unit responded to another escaped campfire that burned a 10 x 10 area outside of the fire ring. This is the third escaped campfire found near the Upper Provo River Fire.
