Upper Provo Fire Update For Wednesday

UINTA-WASATCH-CACHE NATIONAL FOREST, Utah-Wednesday, our friends at Utah Wildfire Info updated the latest information for the Upper Provo Fire.

This is burning on the Heber-Kamas Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest 22 miles east of Kamas in the Murdock Basin area. This is on the eastern banks of Mirror Lake.

Presently, the blaze, which started July 31, has burned 480 acres and it is currently 36 percent contained.

Murdock Basin Road (Forest Service Road No. 137) and Broadhead Meadows Road (Forest Service Road No. 416) are closed. The Murdock Basin and Broadhead Meadows areas also remain closed at this time.

Cloud cover and cooler temperatures caused moderate fire behavior Tuesday.

Helicopters, of which five are employed to combat this blaze, were busy supporting ground crews with water drops.

One was pulled away to respond to an abandoned campfire in the area.
