Friday stats for covid-19 in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY-Friday, the Utah Department of Health released the latest statistics for covid-19 in the Beehive State.

Since statistics began being kept in Utah for covid-19, there have been 40,196 recorded cases. This is an increase of 500 cases in the past 24 hours but a net decrease of two cases in the same span.

There have been 528,910 people tested for covid-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 4,543 tests in the past 24 hours.

This slightly increased the positive test percentage to 7.59 percent. The 24-hour positive test percentage also increased to 11 percent from Thursday’s 8.12 percent.

Utah set a state record for recovered cases in a 24-hour period with 869 new recoveries. This is a net increase of 251 recoveries in the past 24 hours. There are presently 28,130 recoveries.

This caused the recovery percentage to rise to 69.98 percent. Thursday, this was at 68.67 percent.

There are presently 11,763 active cases, representing a net decrease of 373 active cases in the past 24 hours.

Currently, just under 29.7 percent of covid-19 cases in the Beehive State are active.

There are presently 16,367 more recovered cases than active cases in Utah. This represents a differential of 1,242 in the past 24 hours.

Since statistics began being kept for covid-19 in Utah, there have been 2,377 hospitalizations for covid-19. This represents an increase of 31.

There are currently 213 hospitalizations for covid-19 in the Beehive State. This is a net decrease of four in the past 24 hours, dropping the hospitalization percentage to 8.96 percent.

Current covid-19 hospitalizations in ICU dropped by six in the past 24 hours, to 81. This dropped the ICU percentage to 38.02 percent. Thursday, this number was at 40.09 percent.

Currently, 66 percent of ICU is full.

There were four new deaths attributed to covid-19 in Utah in the past 24 hours, increasing the death rate to 304 deaths. This caused the death percentage to slightly increase to 0.756 percent. Thursday, this number was at 0.755 percent.

Wasatch County saw two new cases of covid-19 in the past 24 hours, increasing the total to 525 net cases.

The hospitalizations (20) and deaths (4) in Wasatch County remained unchanged in the past 24 hours.

Wasatch County ends July with only one death in the month. The death attributed to covid-19 in Wasatch County occurred July 6.
