SALT LAKE CITY-Wednesday stats for COVID-19 in Utah were updated this afternoon by the Utah Department of Health.
Since statistics have been kept, there have been 22,716 recorded cases of COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This represents an increase of 499 cases in the past 24 hours but a net decrease of 54 cases in the same span.
In the past 48 hours, Utah has seen a net decrease of 63 positive cases as reflected in the daily totals revealed Wednesday.
There have been 12,707 recoveries from COVID-19 in Utah. This represents an increase of 309 recoveries in the past 24 hours and a net increase of 116 recoveries in the same span.
Presently, 55.93 percent of COVID-19 cases in Utah are recovered.
There are currently 9,836 active cases of COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 189 in the past 24 hours, but represents a -167 decrease in the same span.
Presently, 43.299 percent of COVID-19 cases in Utah are active.
There have been 343,358 total tests for COVID-19 in Utah since statistics began being kept. This is an increase of 2,605 cases in the past 24 hours.
This caused the overall positive test percentage to increase to 6.61 percent. The 24-hour positive test percentage skyrocketed to 19.1 percent Wednesday from Tuesday’s 8.07 percent.
Since statistics began being kept for COVID-19 in Utah, there have been 1,476 recorded hospitalizations. This is a net increase of 32 in the past 24 hours.
However, current hospitalizations are -11 in the past 24 hours as Wednesday’s numbers checked in at 194 current hospitalizations.
This caused the current hospitalization percentage to plummet to 13.1 percent from Tuesday’s 14.19 percent.
Of these current hospitalizations, 84 of them are presently in ICU, an increase of one in the past 24 hours. Because of the -11 decrease in current hospitalizations, this caused the ICU percentage for COVID-19 cases to increase to 43.29 percent from Tuesday’s 40.4 percent.
There was one new death in Utah attributed to COVID-19. This means that there are presently 173 deaths considered COVID-19 fatalities in the Beehive State. This caused Utah’s nation-leading percentage to drop even further. Presently, Utah’s COVID-19 death rate is 0.00761 percent.
Wasatch County has two new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the past 24 hours. This increased the net total of COVID-19 cases in Wasatch County to 410 cases. The hospitalizations (20) and deaths (3) remain unchanged from Tuesday’s report.
Wasatch County’s most recent COVID-19 death occurred June 19.
