SALT LAKE CITY-Friday, the COVID-19 statistics for Utah were updated by the Utah Department of Health.
Since statistics have been kept, there have been 20,050 cases of COVID-19 recorded in the Beehive State.
This is an increase of 676 cases in the past 24 hours and a net increase of 86 casesin the same span.
There have also been 11,097 recovered cases from COVID-19 in Utah. This means a record amount of recoveries in the Beehive State occurred in the past 24 hours with 455 recoveries. This also represents a net increase of 147 recovered cases in the same span.
Presently, 55.3 percent of all cases of COVID-19 in Utah are recovered.
There are currently 8,787 active cases of COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 219 new active cases in the past 24 hours. However, there was a net decrease of 62 active cases in the same span.
Presently, 43.8 percent of all cases of COVID-19 in Utah are currently active.
There have been 317,568 total tests administered for COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 5,514 tests in the past 24 hours.
This rose the overall positive test percentage to 6.31 percent. The 24-hour positive test percentage also rose significantly, from Thursday’s 8.06 percent to Friday’s 12.3 percent.
Since statistics have been kept, there have been 1,321 hospitalizations from COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This represents an increase of 31 hospitalizations in the past 24 hours.
The current hospitalizations increased by four to 174 but the current hospitalization percentage stayed stable at 13.17 percent. This is the same as it was Thursday.
Furthermore, with 80 of those current hospitalizations in ICU, the ICU percentage of COVID-19 current hospitalizations dropped to 45.97 percent. Thursday’s number was at 46.4 percent.
There have been 166 deaths from COVID-19 in Utah since statistics began being kept. This is a net increase of two deaths in the past 24 hours. However, the death rate continued to plummet, falling to 0.008277 percent, the lowest in the nation.
Wasatch County experienced another encouraging day as there are only two new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. This increases the total of cases in Wasatch County to 394 cases. The hospitalizations (20) and deaths (3) did not rise per Friday’s statistics. The most recent death in Wasatch County from COVID-19 occurred June 19.
