SALT LAKE CITY-Thursday, COVID-19 statistics were released for Utah by the Utah Department of Health.
Since statistics have been kept for COVID-19 in the Beehive State, there have been 19,374 recorded cases of the virus. This is an increase of 590 cases in the past 24 hours and represents a net increase of 106 cases in the same span
There have been 10,642 recovered cases from COVID-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 308 recoveries in the past 24 hours and represents a net increase of 31 recoveries in the same span.
Recovered cases from COVID-19 in Utah represent 54.92 percent of all cases for the virus in the Beehive State.
There are presently 8,568 active cases of COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 281 cases in the past 24 hours, representing a net increase of 74 active cases in the same span.
Active COVID-19 cases in the Beehive State represent 44.2 percent of all COVID-19 cases in Utah currently.
There have now been 312,054 tests for COVID-19 administered in Utah. This sets a state record for the most cases in the past 24 hours as 7,316 tests were administered in that span.
This slightly rose the overall positive test percentage to 6.208 percent. However, in the 24-hour positive test percentage window, numbers precipitously plummeted.
Wednesday’s 24-hour positive test percentage was 19.65 percent but on Thursday, this fell to 8.06 percent.
Since statistics have been kept for COVID-19 in Utah, there have been 1,290 hospitalizations. This represents an increase of 34 hospitalizations.
However, current hospitalizations only rose by three to 170 in the past 24 hours. This places the current hospitalization percentage at 13.17 percent, which is down from Wednesday’s 13.29 percent.
Of greatest concern to Utah Gov. Gary Herbert and state epidemiologist Angela C. Dunn is the amount of ICU needed for COVID-19 patients, consisting of both hospital bids and available personnel in said scenario.
With that said, there are two more COVID-19 cases in ICU in the past 24 hours. With 79 COVID-19 cases in ICU presently, this represents 46.4 percent of all ICU usage at hospitals in the Beehive State. The current ICU usage for all purposes is presently at 66.2 percent of capacity. The 46.4 percent is slightly up from Wednesday’s 46.1 percent.
There have now been 164 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of one in the past 24 hours. The current death rate in Utah has since dropped to a nation-low 0.00846 percent of COVID-19 cases in the Beehive State.
Wasatch County saw three new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall net total for cases of the virus in the Wasatch Back to 392.
There have now been 20 hospitalizations (an increase of one in the past 24 hours) from COVID-19 in Wasatch County and the death count remains at three. The most recent death occurred June 19.
