Body Recovered Near Jordan River

SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah-Tuesday, a body was recovered in an area next to the Jordan River used by South Salt Lake water treatment officials.

South Salt Lake police spokeswoman Danielle Croyle did not know if the remains were a man or a woman. She said they were taken to the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine an identification and cause of death.

The body was spotted about noon in the area of 2600 South and 900 West. This was wedged into a concrete structure where water from a nearby canal flows into it and is then released into the Jordan River, per Croyle.

By 3:45 pm, South Salt Lake fire crews had assisted police in recovering the body.

No other information was immediately available.
