Tuesday COVID-19 stats

SALT LAKE CITY-Tuesday, the Utah Department of Health released the COVID-19 stats for the past 24 hours.

There have been 14,937 cases of COVID-19 since statistics began being kept in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 329 cases in the past 24 hours and a net increase of 34 cases in the same span.

There are now 8,470 recoveries from COVID-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 90 in the past 24 hours but a net decrease of 38 in the same span.

The current recovery percentage in Utah is 56.7 percent.

There are 6,322 active cases of COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 237 cases in the past 24 hours and a net increase of 74 in the same span.

There have been 275,700 tests administered for COVID-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 2,762 in the past 24 hours.

This increased the overall positive test percentage to 5.41 percent. In the past 24 hours, the positive test percentage skyrocketed to 11.9 percent

There have been 1,073 hospitalizations in Utah from COVID-19 since statistics began being kept. This is an increase of 32 in the past 24 hours.

The current hospitalizations increased by six to 143. This raises the current hospitalization percentage to 13.3 percent.

The two deaths were each Salt Lake County men between the ages of 60 and 85 who passed away at the time of their hospitalization. One was a resident of a long-term healthcare facility.

Wasatch County experienced five new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, raising the net total to 356 cases.

However, per information from Wasatch County Health Department health education and media relations coordinator Trudy Brereton, there are 238 recoveries from COVID-19 in Wasatch County, or 66.85 percent of those who have had the virus.

There remain 16 hospitalizations and two deaths from COVID-19 in Wasatch County. The most recent death occurred May 31.
