SALT LAKE CITY-Friday, the latest statistics for COVID-19 in Utah were revealed by the Utah Department of Health.
There have now been 13,577 cases for COVID-19 in the Beehive State since statistics have been kept. This is an increase of 325 cases in the past 24 hours but represents a net decrease of 63 cases in the same span.
For the fifth time in the past six days, recovered cases in Utah exceeded new cases.
This was reflected in the 190 new recovered cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the net total to 7,935 recovered cases. This is a net increase of 32 recovered cases from Thursday’s totals.
This keeps the recovery percentage from COVID-19 in Utah stable at 58.4 percent.
Conversely, there are 5,503 active cases of COVID-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 127 from Thursday’s totals, but a net decrease of 100 such cases in that same span.
Furthermore, there were 63 more recovered cases than active cases in Utah as is confirmed in Friday’s totals.
There have now been 258,786 total tests administered for the virus in Utah. This is an increase of 4,098 from Thursday’s totals.
This caused the overall positive test percentage to slightly increase to 5.24 percent from Thursday’s 5.20 percent. The 24-hour positive test percentage also rose slightly, from 7.87 percent-7.93 percent.
There have now been 988 reported hospitalizations from COVID-19 in Utah since statistics were kept for the virus in the Beehive State.
This is an increase of 20 hospitalizations as reflected in Friday’s totals. However, there are only 11 new current hospitalizations, bringing the total back to 130 current hospitalizations as was the case Wednesday.
The current hospitalization percentage (which entails all of those who have been hospitalized since COVID-19 statistics began being kept) is 13.2 percent.
Eight new deaths have been reported, bringing the net total to 139. Six of these occurred in long-term healthcare facilities and as such, had underlying health conditions.
Wasatch County had a promising Friday as there is only one new case of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. This brings the net total to 342 cases since statistics have been kept in Wasatch County.
There remains 15 hospitalizations and 2 deaths in Wasatch County since statistics have been kept. The most recent death occurred May 31.
