HEBER CITY, Utah-Wednesday, updated COVID-19 stats were released for the state of Utah.
There have now been 12,864 positive cases for COVID-19 since statistics began being kept in the Beehive State.
This represents an increase of 305 cases in the past 24 hours and a net increase of 68 cases in the same span.
There have presently been 7,857 recovered cases from COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 196 recoveries in the past 24 hours for Utahns who have had the virus. This is also a net increase of 60 recoveries in the past 24 hours.
This also increased the recovery test percentage to 58.97 percent in the past 24 hours. Tuesday’s total recovery percentage checked in at 58.85 percent.
There are presently 5,149 active cases of COVID-19 in the Beehive State, or 40.02 percent. While this is an increase of 109 active cases in the past 24 hours, it is significantly dwarfed by the 196 recoveries in the same span.
There have presently been 249,760 total tests for COVID-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 2,900 tests from Tuesday’s totals.
This caused the overall positive test percentage to slightly increase to 5.15 percent. Tuesday’s total was 5.087 percent.
In the past 24 hours, the positive test percentage ballooned to 10.5 percent. Tuesday’s 24-hour positive test percentage checked in at 5.98 percent from Monday.
There have been 954 hospitalizations since COVID-19 statistics began being kept in Utah. This is an increase of 23. However, in the past 24 hours, there has only been a net increase of 4 hospitalizations in the Beehive State.
This means that 130 Utahns are currently hospitalized for COVID-19, or 13.6 percent of those who have been hospitalized in Utah because of the virus.
There is one new death in Utah from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. This brings the net total to 128 deaths.
The person who died was a Davis County woman between the ages of 60 and 85 who was hospitalized at the time of her passing.
Wasatch County had an overall effective day in the past 24 hours as there are only two new cases from Tuesday.
This brings Wasatch County’s net total of COVID-19 cases to 337 since statistics began to be kept.
Wasatch County also remains with 15 hospitalizations and two deaths in the overall net total. The most recent death occurred May 31.
Utah Gov. Gary Herbert and state epidemiologist, Dr. Angela C. Dunn, will address the media Thursday at 11:00 am at the Utah State Capitol Building.
