SALT LAKE CITY-Monday, the Utah Department of Health released their latest updated numbers for COVID-19 in the Beehive State.
For the second consecutive day, the net cases decreased in Utah.
There have now been 12,322 positive cases for COVID-19 in the Beehive State, per Monday’s totals.
This is a increase of 256 cases in the past 24 hours, but represents a -12 decrease in the net cases from Sunday’s totals.
Presently, 7,255 Utahns who have had COVID-19 have recovered, or 58.8 percent of those who have had the virus. This is a slight decrease from Sunday’s 58.9 percent totals because 22 less Utahns (147) recovered from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from Sunday’s totals.
However, the 147 recoveries are still greater than the 106 new active cases for COVID-19 in Utah. This is the second consecutive day that recoveries have outnumbered new active cases in the Beehive State.
There have now been 242,899 total tests administered for COVID-19. This is an increase of 4,948 tests in the past 24 hours.
This caused the positive overall net test percentage to increase slightly to 5.072 percent from Sunday’s 5.007 percent.
However, again for the second consecutive day, the 24-hour overall positive test percentage significantly dropped. Monday’s totals checked in at 5.17 percent. This is markedly down from Sunday’s 9.56 positive test percentage in that same span.
There have now been 918 total hospitalizations in Utah from COVID-19. This is a net increase of 18, but current hospitalizations dropped by six to 112.
This also caused the current hospitalization percentage to significantly drop. Monday’s current hospitalization percentage is 12.2 percent whereas Sunday’s report had current hospitalizations at 13.1 percent.
There have now been 124 deaths from COVID-19 in Utah. This is an increase of three from Sunday’s totals.
These deaths were two women from Salt Lake County (one over 85, the other aged between 60 and 85) and a Davis County man between the ages of 60 and 85.
The reports attest all three of them died after being hospitalized.
Wasatch County had an effective past 24 hours as the net COVID-19 cases in the county only increased by two from 330-332. There remain 15 hospitalizations and two deaths from COVID-19 in Wasatch County. The last death occurred May 31.
