President Nelson Joins NAACP Leaders In Call For Racial Harmony

SALT LAKE CITY-Per news released on medium.com, Monday, Russell M. Nelson, the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, joined the NAACP in calling upon Christ’s charge to lead the way to racial peace and harmony.

President Nelson revealed as much on his Twitter account Monday morning.

President Nelson was joined by NAACP President/CEO Derrick Johnson, the organization’s chairman of the board, Leon Russell, and NAACP Chairman emeritus of religious affairs, the Rev. Amos C. Brown.

These men collaborated to write that the key to solving issues such as “racism, prejudice, discrimination and hate” cannot derive from government and law enforcement exclusively.

Furthermore, they continue, solutions must emanate from people opening their hearts to those who are different than themselves. This is something that all people must do to achieve racial harmony and peace, they iterate.

They then expressed sincere pathos for the tragic murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis last month and reminded the world to follow Christ’s mantra of loving God first and then thy neighbor as thyself.

As the tweet manifests, President Nelson locked arms with his friends in question. These men have since given this charge to all Americans to follow suit.
