SALT LAKE CITY-Saturday, COVID-19 stats for the state of Utah were released.
There are now 9,533 cases for COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 269 in the past 24 hours. This also represents a net decrease of 74 cases from Friday-Saturday.
Of these, 5,995 are recovered from COVID-19 per the Utah Department of Health. This means that 62.8 percent of the cases have recovered,
Presently, 210,105 total tests have been administered for COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 4,250 from Friday’s totals.
This caused the overall net test percentage to rise to 4.53 percent. However, in the past 24 hours, the positive test percentage dropped precipitously, by 8.2 percent, to 6.32 percent. Friday, the positive test percentage checked in at 14.6 percent.
These lower numbers occurred despite several COVID-19 “hot spots” in Utah being moved to yellow, or “low risk.” These areas include Salt Lake City suburbs West Valley City and Magna, as well as Grand County, the home of Moab and adjacent Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.
The net hospitalizations for COVID-19 in the Beehive State increased to 763 since Utah began checking for the virus. This is an increase of 10 but a decrease of 9 from Friday’s totals. There are currently 99 Utahns hospitalized from COVID-19 who have been hospitalized, or 12.97 percent of hospitalization cases.
There are presently 112 deaths from COVID-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 5 from Friday’s totals.
In Wasatch County, there have now been 272 cases of COVID-19. This is an increase of seven from Friday’s totals. There remain 12 hospitalizations and one death, which occurred April 10.
