OLANGAPO CITY, Philippines-Per a Thursday report, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ charitable arm, Latter-day Saint Charities, has assisted the Philippines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Filipino president Rodrigo Dutere placed the entire Luzon island under enhanced community quarantine on March 15.
This also affected Olangapo City and the municipality of Subic as well.
Latter-day Saint Charities provided several boxes of personal protective equipment, bottles of alcohol, face shields, surgical and washable face masks and rubber gloves to two local government units, the city of Olongapo and Subic.
Olangapo City Mayor Rolen “Lenj” Paulino Jr. and Mayor Jonathan John Khonghun of Subic expressed their appreciation for this service.
FAA’A, French Polynesia-To honor the 150th anniversary of the young women’s organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, teenagers in French Polynesia have set a goal to do five-to-ten acts of kindness for family, friends and neighbors.
Youth leaders in the Faa’a and Takaroa areas of French Polynesia have also launched challenges during COVID-19 for the young women in their congregations as they seek to become better disciples of Jesus Christ.
