Logan City Police Department Releases Statement Concerning Suspect Former Employee

LOGAN, Utah-Sunday, as news broke that a former Logan City Police Department officer kept explicit photos of  slain University of Utah student Lauren McCluskey, the department made a statement on the matter Monday.

This information was revealed in an article published by the Salt Lake Tribune, prompting Logan City Chief of Police Gary Jensen to release the statement.

Jensen called the allegations “difficult to read” and “very serious in nature,” in the statement, but advises everyone to remember that these are just allegations at this time.

Jensen says the department takes these allegations “seriously” and the department is investigating the claims.

Jensen also cited the importance of due process also being served.

Jensen exhorted the community to be patient as his department consults the University of Utah Police Department on the matter.

Jensen confirms that during the UofU Police Department’s investigation, nothing surfaced to substantiate the claim that was printed in the Tribune.

Jensen said that in the interim, he has received “several emotional phone calls and emails” on the subject.

Jensen concluded by saying that if any evidence to substantiate these allegations emerges, appropriate action will be taken.
