Church and Cambodian Government Leaders Meet on Zoom To Continue Partnership on Humanitarian Activities

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia-The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints confirmed that during the week of April 27 , a series of meetings occurred via video conference between Church leaders and Cambodian government officials to ensue in partnership on humanitarian activities.

Elder Peter F. Meurs of the Church’s Asia Area Presidency said that many people have effectively been able to bless the lives of many Cambodians as he joined the meeting from Hong Kong.

April 29 and 30, H.E. General Meach Sophana, the Secretary of State from the Ministry of Interior and H.E. Sok Khavan, the Secretary of State from the Ministry of Mines and Energry conducted a coordination meeting on Zoom with Elder Meurs and others to discuss the Health Care Improvement Project in the Prey Veng Province and Takeo Province.

Per Khmer Television, CTV9, who reported on the news conference, these Cambodian government leaders are appreciative of the Church’s service and admired the Salt Lake City-based faith’s consistent efforts in improving the country.

The Church has been in Cambodia since 1994 and has performed some 300 humanitarian projects in the country since that time.
