SALT LAKE CITY-Friday afternoon, the latest COVID-19 statistics for Utah were updated.
Presently, there are 3,782 positive cases of COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 170 positive tests from Wednesday-Thursday and a net increase of 3 positive tests as there were 167 positive tests in that same span.
The Utah Department of Health confirmed there have been 84,697 total tests for COVID-19 administered in the Beehive State. This means 4,070 Utahns have been tested for the disease in the past 24 hours. 4.2 percent (4.17 percent) of Utahns tested Thursday-Friday tested positive for COVID-19.
The current overall positive percentage rate continues to drop as the percentage was at 4.47 percent Thursday and is currently at 4.46 percent.
There have been 315 hospitalizations from the pandemic in Utah. This is an increase of 14 from Thursday’s numbers.
There have been 39 deaths from COVID-19 in Utah, an increase of four from Thursday’s totals. Utah state epidemiologist Dr. Angela Dunn, during Friday’s Utah coronavirus task briefing confirmed three of these four deaths occurred at a long-term care facility. The fourth death was hospitalized and had suffered from underlying healthcare conditions.
Dunn said that Summit County, an original Utah hot spot for COVID-19, has seen a decline in cases. Furthermore, she said, social distancing is working and must be maintained.
The Utah Department of Health estimates that 1,252 Utahns have recovered from COVID-19.
Presently, Wasatch County has 127 cases of COVID-19, six hospitalizations and one death.
