SALT LAKE CITY-Wednesday afternoon, Utah Governor Gary Herbert says he supports reopening national parks in Utah.
This comes on the heels of comments from United States president Donald Trump stating his hopes that national parks across the country can be reopened soon.
Last Friday, most of Utah’s state parks reopened under new social distancing guidelines.
Herbert confirmed he supports a “safe and structured” reopening of Utah’s five national parks: Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef and Zion.”
Herbert said he looks forward to working with local health departments and finalizing plans wherein people can safely recreate in these areas.
