PROVO, Utah-Wednesday, the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce released a detailed list of recommendations for ways businesses can safely reopen amid COVID-19.
Officials have released a “Safe to Work” document of best practices Wednesday.
Their recommendations heavily rely upon the use of personal protection equipment and social distancing from workers and customers to control the spread of the disease.
A news release from the Chamber states that any reopening of the economy should occur thoughtfully and adhere to Utah Governor Gary Herbert’s Utah Leads Together plan.
These recommendations could be updated or changed based on information from health and elected officials, per the release.
The Chamber encourages businesses to allow any employee who is able to, to work from home.
As the reopening is phased in, workers would expect to wear masks and sanitize all hard surfaces every two hours.
The document said employees should have their temperature checked regularly and work with staggered schedules and groups.
The Chamber said restaurant staff should be required to test for COVID-19 before returning to work.
Staff temperatures would then be logged and available for inspection by health departments.
Restaurants should also take the names and phone numbers of waiting customers.
Waiting areas would then be limited to 10 people and customers would be asked to wait for a table outside or in their cars.
They would then get a text for when a table is ready.
Tables inside should be spaced more than six feet apart, per Chamber recommendations. Restaurant playgrounds would remain closed.
These recommendations would need approval from the Utah County Health Department.
