University of Utah Presents The Navigating COVID-19 Series

SALT LAKE CITY-The University of Utah is presenting a Navigating COVID-19 series Tuesdays and Fridays each week.

These events feature an “urgent and compelling forum” that provides clear and actionable direction to help local businesses navigate the COVID-19 health and economic crisis.

Tuesday’s event is called Workforce Decision and the CARES Act.

Participants will gain context about the pandemic and practical “Main Street” business intelligence addressing questions such as: what is the economic outlook for businesses in Utah? What federal resources are available to help me pay my workers while my business slows down or temporarily closes? Do I qualify for the new SBA loan program and how do I apply? and How should I think about whether to retain, furlough, or layoff members of my workforce?

This will be moderated by Scott Schaefer, the John W. McIntyre Family endowed chair for free market of economics and professor of finance at the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business and the Marriner S. Eccles Institute for Economics and Quantitative Analysis.
