SALT LAKE CITY-Thursday, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints confirmed that stone removal is set to begin on the Salt Lake Temple. This temple is currently closed for renovation.
Per statements from Church spokesman Daniel Woodruff, workers at the temple site are currently installing a crane on the south side of the temple to begin removal of some of the stones on the spire that were displaced during the Salt Lake City earthquake last month.
Workers will then remove additional stones from the east and west sides of the temple for preservation during this project.
The Angel Moroni statue will also be temporarily removed.
Scaffolding will be constructed around the temple spires, ensuring better access for workers.
This work is expected to last several weeks.
