NASHVILLE, Tenn.-In a report published Tuesday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints extended a helping hand to those suffering ill effects from the tornado that swept through central Tennessee earlier this month.
More than 1,200 helpers from Tennessee and Kentucky came to provide disaster cleanup, resources for victims, uplifting music and photo restoration.
Members of the Salt Lake City-based faith in the area united with other religious and charitable organizations as they repaired damaged homes, provided hygiene kits, cut down fallen trees and removed other types of debris.
Local Church meetinghouses in the area, in Nashville, Murfreesboro and Cookeville, served as command centers.
Members of the Church also gifted storehouse supplies, including cleaning and hygiene kits, to local charities and government agencies.
