HEBER CITY, Utah-Friday, at the Nest, Wasatch wrestling hosted the first day of the 5-A wrestling divisionals.
Fifteen Wasps advanced to Saturday competition.
At 106 pounds, Duncan Watt advanced by besting Bountiful’s Caleb Manuel by fall, 20-8. Also, at 106 pounds, Parker Hayes advanced by a fall over Austin Henstra of Bonneville.
At 113 pounds, Heath Clyde won by fall over Bountiful’s Conner Peck 9-8. Also t 113 pounds, Ryder Robinson downed Spanish Fork’s Tate Sorensen by fall 23-12.
At 120 pounds, Austin Kelly humbled Luke Macdonald of Salem Hills 29-10 by major decision. Deklan Kelly also advanced at 120 pounds, besting Spanish Fork’s Cole Andersen 26-8 by major decision.
At 126 pounds, Wasatch’s Treyson Davis got past Spanish Fork’s Evan Prokopiw 13-9 by fall. His fellow 126-pound competitor, Bryson Lloyd downed Clayton Orton of Spanish Fork 41-11 by fall.
At 132 pounds, Noah Roylance won by fall over Springville’s Lenin Jiminez 19-14.
River Wardle also won at 132 pounds, prevailing 24-7 by fall over Brenden Lonnecker of Bountiful.
At 138 pounds, Sammy Heywood won by fall over Farmington’s Jaron Hales, 26-7.
At 145 pounds, Stockton O’Brien won by fall over Bonneville’s Ivin McDonald 45-4.
At 152 pounds, Alex Hendrix won by fall over Farmington’s Darion Wesche 32-10 while Kolby Cluff advanced at 152 pounds by virtue of a close call over Woods Cross’ Gunner Hardy 15-14.
Charlie Fassold won at 160 pounds, earning a 24-13 victory over Salem Hills’ Monson Morley.
At 170 pounds, Christian Slack prevailed 15-9 over Corbin Carlson of Timpanogos by fall. Brock Lloyd also won by fall at 170 pounds, downing Tyler Mathews of Salem Hills, 29-10.
Finally, at 182 pounds, Alexander Budd of Wasatch prevailed 21-20 by fall over Aiden Burnside of Viewmont.
The Wasps lead the way with 253.5 points, with Viewmont in second at 175 points
