HEBER CITY, Utah-Alexander Budd came through in the 195-pound division for the Wasatch Wasps in the final event of the evening as Wasatch prevailed 36-30 over Uintah, earning a key victory at Senior Night at the Nest.

Other wins for the Wasps came from Heath Clyde at 113 pounds against Raiden Harrison, Deklan Kelly at 120 pounds against Cole Huber (a 6-3 victory) and River Wardle at 132 pounds against Gunnar Harrison.

Additionally, Stockton O’Brien won at 152 pounds and at 170 pounds, Brock Lloyd won by major decision, setting the stage for Budd’s heroics.

The Wasps next compete February 1 at the Nest for 5-A Divisionals.

Boys Basketball

Region 8

SALEM, Utah-Ben Sanders netted 17 points and Lance Gehring added 15 more as the Wasatch Wasps surged past Salem Hills 61-54 Friday in Region 8 boys basketball action. Hayden Madson’s 18 points led the Skyhawks in the loss. With the win, James Ballsteadt’s squad improved to 6-8 and 4-3 in Region 8 play. The Wasps are next in action Tuesday at 7:00 pm at the Nest against Provo. Tune in at 6:40 pm for the pregame on 94.5 The Peak and on hebervalleyradio.com.

SALEM, Utah-Brooke Vance posted 16 points and 5 rebounds as the Salem Hills Skyhawks edged Wasatch 51-49 in Region 8 girls basketball action Friday. Aspyn Neumann’s 16 points led the Wasps in the loss as head coach Norm Hayter’s squad fell to 6-10 and 2-5 in Region 8 play. The Wasps are next in action Tuesday at 5:15 pm as they host Provo at the Nest.
